Parents are the first carers in a child’s life’ and the first educators.As parents we can make a huge contribution to how well our children do at school and what they learn even if we’re not ‘teachers’ ourselves; or even we didn’t do very well when we were kids at school.
Green Shoots Family Learning offers: Courses for parents, carers and grandparentsto learn more for themselves so they can support their children in learning.
Courses and activities for parents and carers to learn more about what their children are learning at school so they can help them.
Lots of events where families get learn and have fun together.
We are looking for people to help mow a very big grassed area, weed a beautiful wooded area, clear a gorgeous pond full of fascinating pond life, prepare some raised beds for vegetable and salad growing (community use) and help lay a path.
A resource library where parents, carers and children can get information, worksheets, actviites and much more to support their learning.
At Green Shoots we see education as a life long pass time.We want to promote education as being about understanding the world around us. Enjoying learning and knowing about things simply for the sake of it.
Family learning is about the different generations in the family supporting and learning with and from each other.
Adult Learning Courses Makaton - A sign language course for parents, carers and those wishing to know more - suporting communication and language development for those with special needs and language delay. This is a 3 day course taught during the school day.
